It all started on a family trip to Switzerland...
I was inspired by the tradition of European hiking medallions—small metal markers mountaineers carried to commemorate the trails they’d accomplished. They weren’t just souvenirs, but lasting symbols of effort, pride, and adventure. More than 30 years ago, I set out to bring that same meaningful tradition to America’s trails.
That idea became Hike America, a family business built on craftsmanship and a love of the outdoors. Every medallion we create is designed to honor the journey, preserve the memory, and connect today’s hikers to a timeless legacy of exploration.
